Robert (Bob) Couch

Robert (Bob) Couch is a semi retired ex public servant, who firmly believes that the world is headed for catastrophe if something is not done to get population growth under control.

Late in 2009 he decided that, as none of the parties in the Federal Parliament supported zero population growth, he would try and gather together a group of like minded Australians to convene a party that would provide an opportunity for Australians to express their wishes on this matter.

He has tertiary qualifications in accounting. As a public service officer, he worked in general accounting for a short time, then became involved in computing (IT) in the mid 60s, holding positions in several Departments. His final appointment before retirement was Manager, IT, in the SA Department of Public and Consumer Affairs. After retirement, Bob worked in various warehousing, trucking, horticulture, manufacturing, building and farming jobs. Currently, he runs a small home maintenance business, and works part time for an electrical contractor.

He is a very keen sailor, who races his NS14 racing dinghy with his crew off Brighton every week during the sailing season. He is a Life Member, and past Management Committee Member of the Brighton and Seacliff Yacht Club.

Bob is also a very enthusiastic dancer in the rock and roll and Lindy Hop styles. He has taught dancing on a voluntary basis in several state primary schools over the last few years.

He has held many voluntary positions over many years for a wide range of organisations, including those involved with sport, dance, sailing, schools, and ratepayer representation.

Bob has been a member of Sustainable Population Australia for several years, and is currently Secretary of the SA Branch. He has children and grandchildren whose future he believes is bleak without action on population.
